Network Marketing Today

Network Marketing today has come a long way, and with each year, better ideas and more tools to help you create success are emerging. Developing one of the many home based businesses available today is so much more efficient than it was in the past, mostly because of the internet. The internet can really be your best friend if you are looking to develop your own business in network marketing today. Even if you have never surfed the web...there are so many companies that will guide you step by step with ease. You could have a business up and running in a matter of days...

Now, in the past, men and women carried vacuum cleaners, makeup cases, insurance policies, pots and pans and a plethora of other things and knocked at the doors of family, friends, and strangers to offer their wares. These consultants, advisors, associates, or whatever the title they referred to themselves as, were invited into homes and businesses daily. They wheeled and dealed to get their potential customer to sign on the dotted line!

Then, in the '60's, the associate stopped walking door to door to present their product. About this time, the associate or consultant called on friends and family or their neighbor, who called their sister, best friend, co-worker... you know where I'm going with this... and invited the associate into their home to see the awesome product that you just can't live without. THEN, if you were a really good hostess and had a good party, they not only asked you to sign on the dotted line to buy the product, in addition, they asked you to sign on the dotted line to join the team, and do what they do.

And on and on, the companies grew, some people making their fortunes, and others... not so much. The word on the street became...

only the people on the top make money OR all those companies are just scams!!!

BUT, the truth of the matter is... the people that made their fortunes just really did work harder than the others! Am I saying that if you have been in network marketing in the past, that you did not work hard??? NO!!! But, if you go back over your time in the company, can you honestly tell me that you went to appointment after appointment, day after day, and never made a sale??? No, if you are honest with yourself, and I'm asking you to be honest, you will probably admit that you might have worked all the time, going to meetings, making lists, listening to training material... which was really just motivational material, and then going to more meetings... but did you actually call ALL of the people on your list??? I didn't think so. The person who made it to the top in your company... Guess What??? They did call all the people on their list!!! Then, they made another list, and called everyone on that list, and then they made a third list. Unfortunately, it IS the same old story with sales, and the truth of the matter is that the people at the top just heard the word NO more often! But, if it was as easy as everyone said, and the products or services were so good that they sold themselves... why wasn't everyone making money???

The answer to that question is the basic problem with most multi level marketing companies today!!!

Unfortunately, even in network marketing today, the training has been or still is mostly motivational, and not business related! People join because the products or services are GREAT, but don't stop to consider that there is no way on God's green earth that they will pass a business card out to some stranger on the street, never mind actually start a conversation with them! And then if they do, and the stranger says no, they are crushed and never attempt it again!!! OR maybe they even do make a few sales to family and friends, and maybe even a stranger or two, but then that's it... the end of the story! The parties over, if you know what I mean. AND THEN, there is the type of person that won't even speak with their family and friends, because they don't want to bother them!!! Is this BAD??? Does this mean you really can't do network marketing today, or tomorrow??? No, it means that you just can't and couldn't do network marketing in the past!

So, what does all this mean??? Well, for one, that having a company in network marketing today, is that it is just that, a business!!! AND, you will never make money in your business if you treat it like a hobby! You must work at your business in order to earn a salary. BECAUSE-- big drum roll here... it IS your business, and not a job! You do not draw a salary, unless you do your job... which, of course is to SELL things. NOW, before I make anybody feel bad, and I'm sure that some of you might, let me just say that I do know that many of you DID work at your network marketing business. You just worked at the wrong things!

And that, my friend, is one of the things that is changing in network marketing today. People who could not do network marketing the old way, are able to make their business work today! You get to work at your business, in your own home, and when you talk to a lead, and you will, you can handle it, because the lead came to YOU!!! And that is why most people do not mind talking to their leads now. Because they are not chasing their lead down the street! In network marketing today, your lead contacts you about your product or your service or your opportunity.

Another one of the things that is changing in network marketing today is the training that you should or do receive! Will people still be chasing their neighbors and friends and strangers in the grocery line??? YES, and these people probably always will! These people are BORN salespeople!

BUT THEN AGAIN, these people may be good at selling, but they may not be good at closing the sale!!!

WHAT THE HECK DOES THAT MEAN???? That means, unless you ask someone to buy something, you never sell anything!!!! So, training may still be needed! Even with people who were born to sell... but not trained to close a sale.

So, in network marketing today, training isn't just a motivational speaker anymore, or at least shouldn't be-- we got that squared away, RIGHT??? It should be business training that helps you with the real things you need, like making a schedule and sticking to it... like making a business plan, so you know what you have to do and when you have to do it!

But what about the rest of it... the leads and how you deal with them! Well, that, my friend, is all about the internet!!! With network marketing today, you can use the internet to find your business prospects, instead of running after the first person you see with a red shirt on or bugging all your family and friends!!!

AND the good news is that... your new leads FIND YOU!!!

I choose the internet, I'm not chasing relatives at family reunions any more!!!

So, why is Network Marketing today a booming industry? Because, today IT IS ALL ABOUT THE INTERNET! With the internet, you don't have to rely on meeting someone at the grocery store, or when you go out to lunch with your upline!!! PLUS, you can use other methods to help generate income... like affiliate marketing or Google AdSense.

Some people can never conquer their FEAR of approaching a complete stranger and asking them if they could give them a card, and others will NEVER wear a BIG button that says Ask ME about my Business! BUT, almost anyone with an average IQ and some basic knowledge of their language can be taught to write!

IS THAT RIGHT???

Yes, in network marketing today, you can learn how to write, and how to write effectively!!! BUT I WAS NEVER ANY GOOD AT WRITING IN HIGH SCHOOL!!! Well then... that is good news for you, because on the internet, you don't have to write at a high school level... you just have to write about something you know and also something you love!!!

Most people are very busy. With work, with school, with kids, with their business or job. The good news for them is that today, a person can shop on the internet!!! While I don't think storefronts will be going away in our lifetime, MORE AND MORE people are finding it easier and faster to shop the NET!!!! They can find the best competitive rates on insurance, rental cars, hotel rooms, or do anything else they desire in about an hour by shopping online, and have it all delivered the next day.

Do you have to learn to use a computer to do your business on the internet??? YES, but even my 80 year old Aunt has learned to use the internet these days!!! All it takes is doing it. Besides, there are programs out there that basically make it as easy as BUILDING BLOCKS!!!

WHY should you bother to beat the pavement, wear out your ear on the phone, ruin your friendships, and bother your family with the "three foot rule", "the baseball system", and other tried and true systems??? Well, the good news is that with network marketing today, you don't have to do this anymore, unless you want to!!! But for those who feel that using these techniques can be like pounding your head against a brick wall, there is NO NEED TO WORRY!!! We now have: how to videos, web-informational sites, webinars, E-zines, e-mails, and many other tools to insure success for network marketing today!!! Why, even those who enjoy going door to door, can learn a thing or two about using the internet for their business!!! So why not step into the future with the internet? It CAN change your life, your financial picture, and your idea of what home based businesses can mean for you.

Does it matter what type of website you have??? Don't most MLM's offer a website to their associates??? Does it matter if people can find your page or do you just have to send out your web address to your customers???

Again, doing that sort of thing is fine, but in order to maintain a network marketing business today, you have to bring in new customers to account for others you loose! It's called attrition, and it is a fact of business... any business... period!!!

So, how do you bring in new customers with the web??? By attracting them at the search engines! Almost everyone has done a Google or Yahoo search in their lifetime, well, at least you have if your reading this!!! You have to get your website into the first page or two of the directories, so that you can be found!!! WHY do I say the first page or two??? BECAUSE how many pages of the search results do you look through??? TEN, TWENTY??? No Way!!! Most people only look through one or two pages of search results!!! OK, occasionally I do go to the third page, but I'm not everyone!!!


So, how do you get your website listed in the directories???
