NWM Fundamentals: The "old way" VS. the "new way"!
Let's explain the NWM Fundamentals of the HOT, WARM, AND COLD MARKETS:
The "old way" of network marketing stresses the idea of making a list of 200 or more names of everyone in your life that is a potential customer or prospect. You start with approaching your HOT market first. What is a "HOT" market you may ask? This is anyone in your immediate circle of friends and family. Aunts, uncles, mom and dad, sisters, brothers, best friends, etc. These are the people that make up the lifeline of your Hot market. These people could also be the scariest of all people to confront about your new business; due to the fear of losing friendships, and the hassle of explaining and trying to convince your family and friends WHY this opportunity or product is too good for them to pass up... Some of the people in this category could sign up, mostly out of guilt, and feeling like they "owe" it to you. With the "new" way of network marketing, I have found a way to avoid that feeling!
Now, your WARM market is made up of quite a few people, this is the majority of names that your network marketing prospecting "list" will contain. NWM fundamentals say: These people are all around you and are all potential goldmines. These are the people that you know, and that will probably never talk to you again after you approach them about your business opportunity. But, it never hurts to try...WARM market people consist of neighbors, people you work with, "Joan" the cashier at the grocery store, your child's teacher, a girl you run into at the gym, your cleaning lady, the mechanic down the road that fixes your car, friends at your "mommy play-dates", a guy at the golf course, and so on... These people are great for network marketing prospecting, but that's about as far as you will get after showing them the system or showing up at dinner time to make them sign a contract. But, it never hurts to try...
NWM fundamentals and the basic network marketing techniques ALWAYS start with the "list"...Which poses the question, "Ever heard of the "memory jogger"?" This is a COLD market favorite! Your network marketing coach(a.k.a,"upline") may hand you a paper that they use. This paper is the Holy Grail of Network Marketing! This is the secret that will have you making a six-figure income in a week! REALLY??? NO. The memory jogger is a wacky list that supposedly helps you find more people to add to your "list" of names. The memory jogger looks like this:
Woman with red hair Man with green jacket Lady with 10 cats College student in a hot dog eating contest The cousin of the person you dated 14 years ago Your tenth grade soccer coach A guy who laughs really loud The airline stewardess that served you a rum and coke on the plane last week Someone who wears cologne
Yeah, that about sums it up.Your next step is to try to find the phone numbers or places you can locate these people. Sounds great doesn't it? Your COLD market also has another great perk! You then get to approach these strangers about your idea! The NWM fundamentals of prospecting to a COLD market involves reaching out to the lady standing behind you on the grocery store check out line, the guy next to you on the bleachers at your child's football game, the woman you just sold your car to, the other network marketer's home party you just went to(because we all know YOUR opportunity is so much better than theirs!), your doctor, the guy down the street, etc.
